St. Demetrios Religious Education

2026 - 2027

One Year with the Divine Liturgy

This year in Sunday School we will be doing a "deep dive" into the Divine Liturgy and the worship of the Orthodox Church. We will learn some of the history of the Liturgy, about the different Liturgies celebrated throughout the liturgical year, and work in detail through the Divine Liturgy as it is celebrated every Sunday.

As always, but especially given this year's subject matter, it is imperative that everyone - children and parents alike - attend and participate as fully as possible in the weekly Sunday Divine Liturgy. It is also, as always, important that the curriculum not be left only to Sunday School, but engaged with and discussed at home throughout each week.

We will be continuing with our weekly email including the topics, lesson plans, and resources for the subject of the week. There is also a Family Guide with suggestions and resources for how to engage with the subject material at home.

Each student in the Sunday School is provided with a Children's Bible Reader (for the Elementary levels) and an Orthodox Study Bible (for the Middle/High schoolers). If you don't have a Bible at home, please speak to Fr. Timothy.
